In September 2022, AEOA was presented with the opportunity to look at two buildings for a new homeless shelter in Hibbing. In October 2022, AEOA received 1.66 million, courtesy of St. Louis County ARPA Funding, to purchase our new homeless shelter, with the closing happening just before Christmas 2022. This building was formally Hillcrest, a memory care facility.
The facility consists of two septate buildings that have a total of 56 individual rooms. AEOA will be opening one of the buildings for occupancy on May 22, 2023. This will be 28 individual rooms. In the coming months, renovations will be taking place to make upgrades to both buildings.
In addition to ‘Home on the Range’ Homeless Shelter, AEOA has owned and operated a 12-bed homeless shelter “Bill’s House” in Virginia, MN since 1996.
